What is a C1D1 extraction booth?
A C1D1 extraction booth is a certified enclosure designed for safe handling of flammable solvents such as butane, propane, and ethanol in cannabis and hemp extraction operations. C1D1 stands for Class 1, Division 1, which is the NEC hazardous location classification for areas where ignitable concentrations of flammable gases or vapors may exist under normal operating conditions. AEL C1D1 booths include explosion-proof electrical components, proper ventilation, fire suppression, and gas detection systems.

What is the difference between C1D1 and C1D2?
C1D1 (Class 1, Division 1) is for areas where flammable gases are expected to be present during normal operations, such as inside an active extraction booth. C1D2 (Class 1, Division 2) is for areas where flammable gases are only present during abnormal conditions like equipment failure or accidental release. C1D1 requires more stringent electrical and ventilation specifications. AEL builds both C1D1 and C1D2 booths depending on your operational needs and local code requirements.

What solvents can be used in AEL extraction booths?
AEL extraction booths are designed for use with all common extraction solvents including butane, propane, ethanol, CO2, and hydrocarbon blends. Our DYS Series booths are peer-reviewed for all solvent types. The booth ventilation, electrical classification, and fire suppression systems are specified to safely handle the specific solvents used in your extraction process.

What sizes of indoor extraction booths does AEL offer?
AEL offers a full range of indoor extraction booth sizes from the compact Micro Series for small-scale operations to the large Exxa and Zeta Series for high-volume production facilities. Our Mega Deluxe and Economy Mega Series offer mid-range options. All booths are manufactured in-house and can be built to custom dimensions to fit your facility layout.

Do AEL indoor booths come fully equipped?
Yes, all AEL indoor extraction booths are turnkey solutions that include every component needed to operate safely and compliantly. This includes explosion-proof lighting and electrical, ventilation and exhaust systems, fire suppression, gas detection, and all necessary safety controls. Booths arrive ready for installation and hookup to your facility utilities.

How long does it take to install an AEL indoor extraction booth?
Installation timelines vary by booth size and site conditions, but most AEL indoor extraction booths can be installed within a few days once delivered to your facility. Our prefabricated design means the majority of construction is completed at our factory, minimizing onsite work and disruption to your operations.
